Refrigeration display lighting has several benefits when applied to a LED retrofit. A majority of cold storage units use Fluorescent lights which lose a substantial amount of their quality, up to 60% or more, when used in temperatures outside of their normal operating range well above that of a food storage display case. Other benefits include:

Lower Energy Costs

LEDs use about 50% less energy than Fluorescent lights and up to 90% less than incandescent bulbs. LEDs also produce substantially less heat saving additional cooling costs for refrigeration.

Better Quality of Light

LEDs produce a cleaner for direct focus of light with a consistent level of output color that make product displays look cleaner and brighter.

Reduced Maintenance Costs

Fluorescent bulbs at about 10,000 hours of use don’t stack up will against LED replacement bulbs that have an estimated 50,000 hours of life or more. Additionally Fluorescent and incandescent bulbs often don’t last their full life due to damage from hits by products going in and out of the display whereas their replacement LED bulbs are very durable and impact resistant.

The Environment

If saving $$ and a better quality of light was not enough there are environmental benefits to make the switch. Fluorescent contain mercury that is not easily disposed of very dangerous for the environment LEDs contain no dangerous chemicals, are recyclable and reduce energy consumption that lower our carbon footprint.
